National Former Prisoner of War Recognition Day
Today is the National Former Prisoner of War Recognition Day and we here at SERVPRO of Harlingen and San Benito would like to give our token of appreciation to all the men and women that serve in the United States Armed Forces that risk their lives for all the people in this country. Today seventy-seven years ago the largest number of soldiers from the United States Forces were taken by Japanese troops in the Bataan Peninsula in the Philippines. They endured a lot of pain because the Japanese forced them to walk 65 miles back to the prison camp without food, water, or medical supplies. Due to this thousands of soldiers died, and the ones that did survive suffered horrible treatment, brutality, and hardships. Many Prisoners of Wars (POW) suffer treatment like this and these heroes have earned the right to be recognized not just on this day but every day of the year! Once again SERVPRO of Harlingen and San Benito would like to thank the strong men and women who are doing what they do to protect this great country!
