What to do in a Fire
If you ever find yourself inside a building that is on fire, there are multiple steps you should take. When you are evacuating the building, you must feel the doors for heat before you open them. This is to make sure that there is no fire danger on the other side. If there is smoke in the air, make sure you stay low to the ground, this step is taken to make sure that you inhale as little smoke as possible when exiting the building. On your way out of the building, you need to pull the nearest fire alarm closest to the door. Finally, once you are safe and away from danger, call your local fire department/911 and report the fire. If you are unable to exit the building safely, keep the door closed and await assistance from the fire department. If smoke is coming into the room, make sure you stuff damp sheets/towels under the door. If you are able to, wave a brightly colored sheet/garment so you can notify the fire department of your location. Once your fire is extinguished, call SERVPRO of Harlingen/San Benito for a free assessment so you can return to your home/business ASAP.
